An old man Lying in front of me; One foot in the grave As we could see. Crying and begging To save his life, There they were‐ His son and wife!
A delicate situation But couldn’t be unheeded. To fulfill my duty, I proceeded. We tried and tried, As much as we could! A living body in an instant Lying like a block of wood.
Suddenly, people started Throwing stones at me; Made me believe How cruel humans can be! These young hands and feet Were getting tired; The character inside me Almost died!
I rued the day I chose to be a doctor! All of a sudden I remembered my daughter: Waiting for me To breastfeed her; But all I saw was Haze and blur!
The byname of a murderer Began to rain! Head was bleeding, And heart in so much pain. All the hard works Went in vain; The same old incident Repeated again!
My husband might have been Waiting for me: With a hug full of love, Kisses and a cup of tea! How he might have been Watching news: How a doctor Got beaten up with shoes!
But this time, His wife is the one to endure pain!
So many protests, But still no gain!
Yes, the same old incident- Repeated AGAIN!
P.S.- I don’t know how many of you could relate this poem or have seen/heard such incidents ever in your life. But this has become a serious issue in our country. Health professionals here are nowadays beaten up like criminals whereas criminals are roaming around freely like they haven’t done anything at all. Just a few weeks ago, a doctor got beaten up just because he requested people to maintain social distance and wear a mask. And this wasn’t the first time a health professional got injured. A few days ago, I heard in an interview where a doctor was telling how health professionals nowadays are using a diaper continuously for 8 hours while treating COVID-19 patients in an ICU without eating anything and drinking not even a single drop of water, and how they are using PPE continuously, while the other people aren’t even wearing a single mask (that too for saving themselves). Isn’t that heart-wrenching? And how can I forget the day when one of our professors told us how he completed MBBS and MD with a dream of treating a patient but at last got afraid of getting hit and chose to be a professor so that he could get some respect. I can never forget the pain and fear I saw in his eyes that day.
Few days ago, I received my first ever award nomination from Anjali Khanal for the Liebster Award. And I would like to say a HUGE thank you to her.
Talking about Anjali, I got to know her only a week ago, when I somehow happened to go through her blogs. And trust me, I didn’t regret at all! She is absolutely amazing. She has written beautiful articles in both Nepali and English; mostly about her life experiences. And what’s more interesting is that she translates her Nepali articles into English so beautifully. Do check her blog once , you won’t regret it: https://anjaliutters.wordpress.com/
For those of you who are still getting to know me, my blogging journey started about two months ago when a friend of mine urged me to write an article on World Menstrual Hygiene Day. And when my brother read my article that day, he immediately introduced me to WordPress, but I had absolutely no idea what it was all about. I had already written some poems and articles back then which he used to share here, lol. I used it myself only about two weeks ago, and since then I’m using it almost all the time.😅
SO, WHAT IS LIEBSTER AWARD?
The Liebster Award is an online award given by bloggers to bloggers and has been around since 2011. This is a recognition of their contribution to the blogging community. It is simply passed on and its goal is to promote and support fellow bloggers. Not only is this a great way to give fellow bloggers some recognition, but it is motivational as well.
In German, Liebster means sweetest, kindest, nicest, and so on. You get the point. It is a great initiative for supporting and showcasing new blogs.
Now without rambling much, I would like to note down all the rules that has been laid out for me:
Thanks the blogger who has nominated you and provide the link of their blog.
Answer the 11 question given to you.
Nominate 11 other blogger.
Ask your nominees 11 question.
Notify your nominees once you have uploaded your post.
1. Introvert or Extrovert? Reason?
May be somewhere in between. Some people think I’m quiet, while others think I’m highly social, and I think they all are right.🙃
2. Which is your Favorite movie and why?
To be honest, I really don’t have one. I don’t know if I’ve watched a very few movies or loved every single one of them that I’ve never took my time to think about my favourite ones, lol. But if I had to choose one, it would definitely be “Three Idiots”. This movie is a complete package of what we as a student as well as a society needs to know and understand. And how beautifully they have shown us the meaning of a real friendship. Mostly I love thriller movies, though.
3. When is your birthday?
My birthday is on January 10.
4. Who are your favorite bloggers?
Uh, that’s really a tough question for me. Each one of us has something different no one else has, and it would be so unfair to choose only the few ones as my favourites, as all the bloggers I got to know are so so so amazing!
5. Describe yourself in 5 words?
Ambitious, Empathetic, Irascible, Sensitive and Supportive.
6. What’s your ambition?
A doctor and a philanthropist.
7. What’s special about the country you live in?
Since Anjali and I both are from the same country, I don’t think I need to tell anything to her. 🙂 But for my other friends who are from the other countries, I would like to say that we have nothing that we can call ‘non-special’ and I think that’s the most ‘special’ thing about our country. The ethnicity and culture, religion and festivals, hills and mountains, pilgrimages and natural beauties, foods and people, hospitality and honesty, unity and bravery, EVERYTHING! And of course, the flag.🇳🇵
8. Favorite destination outside your country?
I’ve never been outside my country, but there are a lot of places on my bucket list where I would like to visit and explore someday in my life. One of which is Niagara Falls.
9. Best advice by your best friend?
“We have many options in our life. If you fail in one thing, keep on trying and if that doesn’t work, try the next one BUT never let your failures destroy you.” My best friend has also taught me to seize the day. 🙃
10. Your best way of passing time?
I really enjoy doing nothing at all, haha. But if I thought of being productive in my leisure times, it would be reading novels, drawing sketches or writing anything that pops up in my head. Otherwise, I’ll just be sleeping, lol.
11. Tell one of your good memory ?
When my brother got admission into the medical college of his choice, and that too on my birthday. Isn’t that amazing?
I would like to Nominate the following Bloggers further for this awardand the questions are the same ones I answered for you guys as well.
With a glimmer of hope, here I stand But I cannot fathom out. Is it beyond the realms of possibility? With a glimmer of hope, here I stand Will things go as I planned? Will time get better? I doubt. Do I have the ability? With a glimmer of hope!
A big bright smile and a cheerful face, Oh darling, you could light up a room, And shine even in a cloud of gloom! Charismatic and full of grace, You are an angel I cannot replace. Even in a bad mood, You never failed to be there, Pouring us your love and care! Being our motivation, there you stood; From loneliness to solitude. And whenever my eyes meet yours, That love and warmth my heart feels, Have a power that could heal: Those pains hard to endure! Darling, you are the one I love and adore. A sister or a daughter, Best friend or a wife! Whatever the relationship with you in life, You fill them with laughter; And make the lives more brighter. I wish you all the happiness, A good health and many more! For a beautiful soul that the world adores, Sending a big hug and kisses, And lots of love – pure and timeless. Happy Birthday, dear sister!
