Again! – A Poem

***Please note that it’s not about my own life; I’ve only tried to show how health professionals here and in some other countries are being treated nowadays. And also I’m a medical student, not a doctor yet.

An old man
Lying in front of me;
One foot in the grave
As we could see.
Crying and begging
To save his life,
There they were‐
His son and wife!

A delicate situation
But couldn’t be unheeded.
To fulfill my duty,
I proceeded.
We tried and tried,
As much as we could!
A living body in an instant
Lying like a block of wood.

Suddenly, people started
Throwing stones at me;
Made me believe
How cruel this world can be!
These young hands and feet
Were getting tired;
The character inside me
Almost died!

I rued the day
I chose to be a doctor!
All of a sudden
I remembered my daughter:
Waiting for me
To breastfeed her;
But all I saw was
Haze and blur!

The byname of a murderer
Began to rain!
Head was bleeding,
And heart in so much pain.
All the hard works
Went in vain;
The same old incident
Repeated again!

My husband might have been
Waiting for me:
With a hug full of love,
Kisses and a cup of tea!
How he might have been
Watching news:
How a doctor
Got beaten up with shoes!

AGAIN!

But this time,
His wife was the one to endure pain!

So many protests,
But still no gain!

Yes, the same old incident-
Repeated AGAIN!

I wrote this poem 3 years back. And unfortunately, I can still relate to this (even more). The only thing that has changed is my dream of not going abroad and serving for my own country🇳🇵.

A wonderful poetry with which you address these horrible tendencies. We must all, always and in all places, live and demand mutual respect and esteem. Unfortunately, even here in Europe, there have been physical attacks on train controllers, policemen… who are doing their job in the interests of everyone’s health in these difficult times. There is so much ignorance and hatred. We must not allow these trends to increase but stand up and speak out against. Brava!

Hi, I do believe this is a great web site.
I stumbledupon it 😉 I may come back yet again since i have saved as a favorite it.
Money and freedom is the best way to change,
may you be rich and continue to guide other people.
I’ve been browsing on-line more than three
hours lately, but I never discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours.
It is pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all site owners and bloggers made good content
material as you probably did, the net shall be much more helpful than ever before.
I visited several blogs however the audio feature for audio songs existing
at this web site is really superb. http://plumbing.com/

Interesting. Coincidentally, one of the Writer’s Workshop characters in my blog is a female Doctor from Nepal. I had no idea what they were going through over there. Thanks for visiting and as we say in the Wild West “fare thee well, pilgrim.” Peace be the Botendaddy

Wow…this just left me speechless. I live in the United States and generally speaking, doctors are respected here. Not all doctors are great, but to have stones thrown at them or to have them attacked makes no sense to me at all!! And what happens when those throwing stones are sick and need a doctor are there are none? They are left to die…that’s what happens. Thank you for your post and I hope things are getting better!
